Shopping in Rome
You won't find too many bargains in Rome, but if you're into shoes or the latest fashions,
then Rome is a truly a shoppers paradise. Rome ranks with Paris and London as one of the
most important fashion centers in Europe. Leather goods are perhaps the most famous local
specialty-gloves, shoes, handbags, jackets and even handicrafts. Italian suits, jewelry,
perfume and silk are the other high end goods that you can expect to find throughout the
city and especially in the area around the Spanish Steps and Via Condotti. All the big
labels are here from Versace to Armani to Bruno Magli.
If you're looking for local markets, Rome has an abundance of food markets, antique
districts and flea markets. All offer the chance to hone your bargaining skills and
get up close and personal with the locals.
