    I know Paris had lots of unusual hotels but this is the first time that I actually heard about this. Am i missing something here.

    You should not have known about it. It is a temporary hotel. It is a proof of concept project being carried out by the designers mentioned in the story. If I recall the story well, the hotel will be around very much longer.
